Significant Leadership Endorsement of End Widow Abuse
Prayer Leader and Focus for June 22-28
Mrs. Omotayo Agunbiade, Researcher
Significant Leadership Endorsement of Laws, Policies and Bills to End Widow Abuse Especially Widow Affirmative Action etc.
June 22 Prayer by Mrs. ‘Tayo Agunbiade:
Bible Passage: Zechariah 7:10 KJV "And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.”
One of the pressing issues in our society is the attitude and behaviour towards widows.
Some practices are steeped in so - called tradition, others are just in-laws in connivance with officials acting arbitrarily and maltreating widows. This must stop. We can put an end to this societal problem through our prayers and actions. No woman should have to go through any form of oppression because she has been widowed.
The Holy Word of God calls us not to engage in behaviour that will cause further grief for widows thereby adding an extra layer of burden on them.
For this week, the focus will be on widows. The prayer points are as follows:
1. Father in the name of Jesus, we lift up all widows into your mighty hands, and ask for your healing power to soothe them in their moments of pain. We pray for peace and joy to gradually be restored into their hearts and homes in the name of Jesus.
2. Father in Heaven, your Word admonished us not to oppress widows. We pray that everything oppressing widows be cast down in the name of Jesus.
3. We pray every official-enabled oppression against widows be dismantled in the mighty name of Jesus.
4. We pray to you Father God that every and any form of oppression from within the family be dismantled in the mighty name of Jesus.
5. Oh Lord raise angelic help into the lives of those widows experiencing any form of oppression in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen
6. Those widows left shelterless because of the actions of others, we pray for angelic assistance from the four corners of the universe be sent to them in the mighty name of Jesus.
AMEN to all our prayers on this subject.
